Dust off your party hats, makers. It’s our birthday! To celebrate 15 years of innovation, creativity, imagination and fun with Makedo, we’re giving you the chance to win BIG. Form a team to design and build your future dream house with Makedo tools and cardboard. Document your creative process and submit your entry to be in the running for USD $1,500 and other prizes. Competition Guidelines
Collaborate to Create
Form a team of two or more makers, including at least one adult and one child. This is a project aimed at fostering collaboration and bonding, so gather your dream team and get started.
Let Your Imagination Soar
Design and build your future dream house. Let your imagination run wild! Consider incorporating elements that reflect what may be required in a home over the next 15 years such as sustainability, technology, and innovative living solutions.
Share Your Story
Share the story behind your creation: Who did what, how you collaborated, and the journey from concept to completion. When submitting your entry, you’ll have the opportunity to write a short paragraph outlining your creative process, share photos of your dream house, and add any video content of your build. This story will be essential for your entry and will inspire our community, so don’t hold back.
Incorporate 15 Years
Think about how the world might change in the next 15 years and let this inspire your design. What new challenges will arise? How will people live and interact with their environment? Use this to inform your creation.
Build with Makedo
Ensure your creation prominently features Makedo tools and components. Show us the innovative ways you use our products with upcycled cardboard. We can’t wait to see what you build!

You have until September 30, 2024, 23:59 AEST to send us a photo of your team with your future dream house, plus any images of the creative process. Don’t forget to give us the story behind the creation, our judges will pay great attention to it!

Frequently Asked Questions
The competition is open to everyone, but teams must include at least one adult and one child to encourage collaboration and bonding. So get your crew together and start creating!
Participants will enter their details via the competition entry form above.
The winner will receive a huge USD $1,500, the runner-up USD $500, and 10 honourable mentions will each receive a Discover Kit.
The competition closes on September 30, 2024, at 23:59 AEST. Judging will take place the following week, and winners will be announced before October 14, 2024 23:59 AEST.
Entries will be evaluated by a panel of three designers from the Makedo team. The judging will be based on the following criteria:
- Creativity: The originality and inventiveness demonstrated in the entry.
- Innovation: The uniqueness and novelty of the approach and solutions used.
- Use of Makedo Tools: The effective and creative application of Makedo tools in the creation.
- Storytelling: The ability to convey a compelling narrative or concept through the submission.
The panel will review all entries and select winners based on the overall scores assigned to each criterion.
Participants should design and build their future dream house, considering how the world might change in the next 15 years. Focus on sustainability, technology, and innovative living solutions. If you need support, visit our Resource Hub or our social media channels for inspiration!
Document your creative process with photos, video and a brief story detailing who did what, how you collaborated, and your journey from concept to completion. Remember to submit this documentation along with your creation.
You sure can, but only for decorative purposes! While the construction of your dream house needs to be built with upcycled cardboard and Makedo, jazz it up with cardboard decorations, markers and craft supplies.
